Was it Worth it? by Yasmin Said
All it takes is one mistake,
Sometimes to pull us back into reality
Or drag us through this never ending fantasy that we had created for ourselves.
Maybe it was the adrenaline that rush that fueled us to keep chasing something that was never
there
But at the moment who would care?
We need to wake up and realize
That this life was never supposed to be the real prize.
But God forbidden we stopped chasing it,
Wishing it,
Seeking it,
Asking for more
When we all know it really has become this chore
Of dissatisfaction and appreciation because when you lose something you’ve longed to have.
The droplets of its presence,
Seems present to you.
But we really do have no clue.
And at this point it was like shell shock had no name because of its impact or the fame
Almost as if it’s wet touch will leave a permanent stain
You will never be able to wipe.
When it was never there in the first place.
A cleanse for the heart it should be
But for you and me,
We know that that will never be the case,
Because now water was for the soul but not the taste.
Removing “wa” in wa-ter and replacing it with “la” for later.
Cause that realization would be put on hold like a mind shifting it’s way through scrabble
Realizing that those letters put together really make no sense.
We had no control and this point
It was like our mind had crashed.
And you forgot to wear your seatbelt
Because all it takes is one mistake.
